Wu Bangguo: China is still a developing country

Despite remarkable economic growth for 30 years, China remains a developing country, said Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress of China (NPC Chinese).

Wu Bangguo, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee (CC) of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), made the remarks in an article published in the latest magazine from the CCP "Qiushi" (Seeking Truth) which will be released Friday.

Although China has experienced remarkable economic growth, China's economy is facing various structural problems and economic growth depends mainly on manpower and resources, according to a summary of the article sent to the Xinhua (New China).

Wu also stressed in the article, the imbalances between urban and rural areas, between different regions and between economic growth and social development.

He said, moreover, that the Chinese people led in all a decent life, but there are still many Chinese who live below the poverty line or who receives a very modest income.

Wu Bangguo said that China's rapid development has attracted world attention, but the challenges it faces have rarely been observed in other countries.
