A committee of economic cooperation between the two sides of Taiwan Strait will convene its first meeting February 22 in Taoyuan in Taiwan, said Friday the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) based in mainland China .
Jiang Zengwei, special adviser to the ARATS, will be the main representative of the mainland at the meeting, a statement of the ARATS.
The mainland and Taiwan have announced January 6, the establishment of a Committee to address issues related to the Framework Agreement on Economic Cooperation (ECFA) across the Taiwan Strait.
The vice-president of the ARATS, Zheng Lizhong and Vice-President of the Foundation for exchanges across the Taiwan Strait (ETS) based in Taiwan, Kao Koong-lian, co-chair the meeting, the statement said.
The two sides will discuss the design of the working committee, prior to conducting consultations ECFA thereafter.
They will also review the implementation of the "early harvest" in the framework of the ECFA.
Both parties have signed this historic economic agreement in June 2010 to normalize economic relations between the two sides and bring the two economies.
