The chief negotiator of the Chinese mainland will lead a trade delegation to Taiwan

A trade delegation from mainland China, led by Chen Yunlin, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS), will visit Taiwan from February 23 to 28, said the ARATS Friday.

The delegation will consist of over 20 businessmen, according to a statement of the ARATS.

The main objective of the delegation is to assess the investment environment and business opportunities on the island, to assist companies to enter the mainland to Taiwan and to promote industrial cooperation, the statement said.

The delegation members will meet with members of the business of Taiwan and visiting ports, industrial parks, businesses and farmers' associations in cities of Taiwan.

This is the first time that Chen Yunlin will lead a trade delegation to Taiwan. He previously led the delegation to the island for talks between the ARATS and the Foundation for exchanges across the Taiwan Strait (SEF).

The delegation is invited by SEF chairman Chiang Pin-kung.
